Ethan Gingerich was born, raised, and educated in Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in structural engineering. In addition to serving as the Bridges to Prosperity University Program Coordinator, Ethan worked with JZ Engineering – a structural engineering firm in Harrisonburg, Virginia – on sustainable structures and international and domestic development projects.

Ethan was born, raised, and educated in Iowa and has yearned for ways to use engineering in the field of international development since high school. In the process of graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in structural engineering, he interned for a small socially-minded firm called JZ Engineering, with whom he had his first experience with international pedestrian bridge building on a trip to Guatemala. He fell in love and soon joined the Iowa student chapter of Bridges to Prosperity (B2P). After leading the chapter to successful Nicaragua builds in 2012 and 2013, Ethan graduated from college and served on the B2P Board of Directors for a year before transitioning onto the staff as the University Program Coordinator for four years, all while simultaneously working mostly-full-time as a structural engineer for JZ Engineering in Harrisonburg, Virginia. While still based in that quaint little mountain town, Ethan now serves full-time as the Director of the EIA Bridge Program (formerly known as the B2P University Program).

In addition to bridges, Ethan enjoys basketball, biking, hiking, trail running, backpacking, cliff jumping, reading, cheering for the Bulls, listening to Taylor Swift, and spending time with family and friends.
