Why am I fasting?

In additon to fasting from food, I’m going to fast from good tasting water again this year. I’m buying the nastiest tasting vitamin water (Goji melon – YUK), putting brown water dye in it, and adding dirt (pepper) and that is all I’m going to drink.

The reason is for me to be reminded of the nasty tasting, and dangerous water that most Bolivians drink. I want to remember and reflect on that water, and remind myself that the reason why EIA is so important is that we bring safe potable water to people, water that won’t kill their babies. To remember that for every engineer EIA can afford to pay (total support is about $10,000), we can save the children of 4-5 more villages in Bolivia. That’s why I fast. That’s why I helped to create EIA.
