Engineers in Action

Engineers can change the world. We provide crucial connections between engineering groups and indiginous communities to build a better future.

Help us improve the quality of life for those in need.

Available Projects

We currently have no new projects available, but anticipate having some ready for adoption by the end of September, 2010. Please contact our Executive Director,David Stephenson at tulsadstephenson@yahoo.com and let him know of your interest.

In January, 2009, our Executive Director, David Stephenson, met with the President of Bolivia: Evo Morales. President Morales stated that EIA had gained the trust of the Bolivian people. Evo asked David if EIA would concentrate any new projects on the 35 poorest (out of 350)  Municipalities (counties) in the poorest country of South America: Boliva. The “Poorest of the Poor”.

In these Municipalities, at least 98% of the population lives on less than $2/day. There is no potable water, sanitation or electricty. And in virtually all of these Municipalities, there are no foreign NGO’s working.

David agreed that any new projects would be in one or more of those “Poorest of the Poor” Municipalities.

However, in 2009 EIA only had 4 engineers with 17 projects and we were unwilling to take on more projects. Our fear was that we would get overloaded and not provide the quality of logistical support and sustainability work that we expect of ourselves. So we added no new project in 2009.

With the addition of another engineer in Marcos Robison and an accountant (Froilan) to our staff,  we are now ready to add some new projects. In July, 2010 we are visiting some of these Municipalities and preparing them to present to EWB chapters and others.

Contact David Stephenson if you are interested in speaking to us about the possible adoption of one of the new “Poorest of the Poor” projects this coming Fall.

I had that experience this week.  In 1989 my father, without asking anyone else’s opinion, without getting permission, without knowing how it would be done, without even knowing if it COULD be done, announced to [...]
