Since 2022, David has served on EIA’s board. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Between those degrees, he was a water and sanitation volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Kenya, where he advised local communities on small-scale water projects and taught extensively on good sanitation practices. His efforts in Kenya laid a strong foundation for his career, as he gained invaluable hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by developing communities. After working for a decade on water quality, treatment, and distribution projects for a global engineering firm, David earned a J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He is a partner at Beltzer Bangert & Gunnell, where he represents general contractors and other construction stakeholders in legal disputes of all types. David brings years of water infrastructure design experience, as well as legal expertise, to the board. His dual expertise in engineering and law provides a unique perspective, enabling him to navigate complex legal landscapes while advocating for innovative engineering solutions. David's multifaceted skills are crucial in advancing EIA's mission and supporting sustainable development efforts.
